Jewish Folk Singer.

Prayer Leader.

Musician.

It’s a real pleasure and joy to work with Leah and see her in action as a prayer and song leader. She brings great spirit, heart and expertise to all she does. Leah is very easy to work with, as she is thoughtful and attentive to details, and always stays focused on the big picture and goals. I am honored to sing her praises and am delighted to serve as a reference and a big fan for her.

I think of the lovely way in which Leah led our Friday Kabbalat Shabbat services. She has a charming presence both musically and in the thoughtful ideas she presents in the context of the service. I’m so glad that Lisa Iskin invited Leah to become involved in synagogue life.

I have known Leah her whole life. Her father and I have been friends since the 1970s. He would occasionally bring her to my ‘Sing in Shabbat’ services when she was a child. Little did I know that she would become the most passionate, self-motivated, and brilliant student I have had the honor of mentoring. Her Jewish leadership through music and prayer is something that I find myself drawn to often. I am now learning from her, as she explores paths towards sharing our Jewish traditions. To experience her is to be elevated in spirit. The communities she serves are growing as she attracts people of all ages. Her services are also streamed over Zoom, making her accessible to a wider demographic than just our local synagogues. And through this, she is creating communities who feel connected through her. Those who attend her services leave with a sense of well-being. Being her mentor, I feel that the future of Judaism has a bright light ahead, and that bright light is Leah Gerber.
